Reaching For Kids and Youth of Massac County is a non-profit 501C3 organization located in Massac County, which is the southernmost county in Illinois.  Massac County has a population of approximately fifteen thousand.  There are 3 towns in Massac County, Brookport, Metropolis, and Joppa.

This agency was organized in 2001.  We have an executive board and an advisory board.  There are youth that work in an advisory capacity and assist in planning programs.  Our office is at 401 Ferry Street in Metropolis.  We have a staff of one full time and 27 part-time employees.

Our organization partners with the 2 school districts in Massac County.  These districts are Massac Unit #1 and Joppa/Maple Grove #38.  Our four sites are at Brookport Elementary, Maple Grove Elementary, Massac County Junior High School, and Metropolis Elementary.  We serve students in an after-school program 180 days for 3 hours per day, and a Summer program with field trips and other activities.

There are 145 students enrolled in our program.  We serve students in Massac County in grades 4 thru 8 at our sites.  Our funding is primarily through the Illinois Department of Human Services TeenREACH grant.  We also implement the Teen Action Program Grant and numerous smaller grants.

We have programs for students with academic/homework assistance, life skills, parent involvement, recreation, sports, cultural and artistic activities.  We also serve full meals to students at every session of our program.  There are no costs to the students or their families.
